Purpose

The Ombuds Service is an independent service created by Washington State law with responsibilities to receive complaints and grievances from public mental health consumers and others and to protect their rights.

Services

  • Listening to problems
  • Analyzing what is involved
  • Investigating facts, records, laws, policies and procedures
  • Assisting in complaint and grievance procedures
  • Following through to see that the complaint or grievance is resolved and the consumer is kept informed
  • Recommending changes to correct a problem or prevent future occurrences
  • Providing information on resources and consumer rights
